Te Ahu a Turanga Noho Marae

Description:  In week 7, we had an overnight stay at the local Marae in Woodville.  We were immersed in Maori culture and participated in a range of activities.  We set two goals to focus on during our stay.

Image:

Big Idea:

1.  Did you achieve your goals? The first goal is that I had to wake up later then 7:00 I didn't achieve that. My second goal was to not whine on the gorge walk and I did achieve that goal.  How do you know? I know that I didn't achieve that goal because everyone else started waking up and one of the parent said it was 6:40. I know I achieved this goal because I had tried my hardest to just get on with it and just not talk about it.

2.  What are you most proud of from the marae stay and why? learning how to walk on the stilts fluently because before I had never ever tried it so it was a new thing for me.

3.  What challenged you the most and why? completing the gorge walk because I have not had a long walk for a long time and my little legs couldn't take it

Stuck because of a tree

For the last few days we have been making a video that was inspired by being stuck on an escalator basically the video shows how you get stuck and something is so simple to do it stupid. So we all had to make our own version so bella and I decided to do a video together so here it is.

Criteria: (Content)
  • Video - 30 seconds long, time is limited.
  • Scenario - Show someone being stuck and not using the ability to act.
  • Clear Message - Short sharp clip. Can the watcher get the point of your video?
  • Unique - Coming up with something funny that gets a laugh from others.
  • Time Passing - Do you need to show time passing in your clip to emphasise your message.

Criteria: (Movie)

  • Light - Make sure the sun isn’t creating a hard to see clip.
  • Voice Volume - Needs to be louder than other background volume eg Noise, Kids.
  • Frame - What’s in the frame to make your message obvious.
  • Steady Hands - Make sure the camera is still.
  • Individual Clips - Don’t do one continuous shot of 30 seconds. Make a range of short clips and join together.

Feedback/Feedfoward

My feedback is it was good you did a voice over and my Feedfoward you should have done the recoding at lunch.

Story telling

Description: Oral storytelling is a Maori tradition. We have been planning our own story to tell on the Marae in Week 7.

Big Idea: To Create a story to share at the Marae you could have a life lesson or why something is I chose why people have two hands.

Evaluation:
I think that next time I could have been a bit clearer with my speaking and also a bit louder because people didn't  understand what I was saying.

Transformation

 Description:
We have been learning about transformation.  We have specifically learnt that...

  • translation is when an object slides in any direction;
  • rotation is when an object is turned around a central point;
  • reflection is when an object is flipped and has a line of symmetry.

Our challenge was to design a car badge that contained at least one of these aspects of transformation.

Image:

Big idea :

Feedback/Feedforward: I think your car badge looks great but I think you could take your time and use your time wisely. Good Job! (Rosalind).

Evaluation: I think that next time for me I could put in another thing so instead of just doing reflection I could do reflection and something else like translation.

Star test

A few days ago the year fives and sixes did a star test to see how well they are at reading. I am very pleased and proud of my results because I got a stanine 6 and my score out of 50 was 43. I took a photo of the test for you.

My new goal for reading is to expand vocabulary to help that when I am stuck on a word and I don't know what it means I will use things such as a dictionary, thesaures, and other tools.

Swimming smart goals

Description:
For the last few weeks Troy's swimming have been swimming in the pool. We do a length of the pool and when we get to the end of the pool Troy gives us some tips to make us become great swimmers. I have been working on my freestyle and a tiny little bit of my backstroke.

Bid idea/goal:

In my back stroke I am learning to not wiggle my hips and keep them straight to do this I am going to keep them still. In freestyle I am learning to cup my hands to make that happen I will keep them close together. For my swimming sports goal I am going to try and do a whole length without stopping for me to make that happen I will practice at my swimming pool

Evaluation: I think that I could have kicked above the water a bit more because I am kicking as though I am scuba diving. But the good thing about it is that I have bendy arms and I am breathing on the side not up.

Childhood memories

Purpose: to share memories from my childhood

Remember when I was just a tiny little year four it was my first time ever staying overnight for a school trip? I loved sleeping with my friends.

Remember when I was staying at camp? It was very embarrassing I had never ever sang in front of sixty people but ever since I have been vert confident with my singing.

Remember when it was my first time at seed to table? My friend gargled water and it accidently spat it all over herself I reminded her to never do that again.

That was me growing up

Then my next child which I'm talking about my last child she is the  musical one in the family Her name is Serena. She does music lessons for singing, ukulele, piano, and theory. All she does is sing everywhere she goes in the shower, toilet, supermarket, and shops .
My 4th child is my brainy child she always has a pocket filled pens. There is a calculator stored in her brain. All five of them are home schooled so the only stay at home. Just to say they all are girls no boys. We live in New Zealand in Auckland in a small flat.
