Grass Hopper Tennis

WALT: improve our small ball skills like catching, throwing, and hitting.



We needed to do this to reflect on how we are going with the tennis skills we have learnt. We will share this during our with Big John (John Salisbury) from Tennis Manawatu. He has taught us some tennis skills that help with controlling and hitting the ball.

1. What are you most proud of and why? I am most proud of all the skills I have learnt through out grasshopper tennis because and hit that ball.

2. What challenged you the most and Why? The skill cutting the cheese where you have to put the side of your racket down and hit the ball because the racket was so thin that it was hard to touch the ball.

3. Next time, what is a goal you can work towards? Standing away from people that I know that I will talk to.

I think I did really well at learning all the skills because before I didn't know any but know I know how to do it really well. I think could work on standing people that I won't talk with.

Writing sample

W.A.L.T. Inform


Write an explanation about something you have learned about energy.
We were publishing a piece of writing. We have to share on blog and during our Student LeConference. I think I did well at giving a picture of what the cup would looked liked I think I could work on putting on more explain.

Integrity

WALT: Show Integrity



Troy and Chris shared with us some movies that demonstrate people showing Integrity when it looked like they were not going to show it. Our goal was to create our own movies that showed Integrity at school.

 We did this to showcase the Tuakana/Teina that we foster at Russell Street School and our understanding of this terms value of Integrity. We will share this during our Student Led Conference. We had to make a video under a minute to show that we know what integrity means. In Week 7 we did this.

Feedback/ feed foward : I think that you did a great job with your movie- Amy 

Evaluation: I think we did well at explaining what integrity means but I think we could work on more realistic acting.

Potential and kinetic energy

WALT: show our understanding of how energy works. 

   

Each week we have been learning about a different type of energy.  For example, States of Matter, Kinetic and Potential, Radiation, Conduction and Convection. We had to make a video no longer then 30 seconds about our under standing of energy .i.e. States of matter Potential, and kinetic energy, Newton's cradle or forms like Radiation, Convection, Conduction. We did this to show what we know during student led conference. We did this in week 6.

Gathering Data
I can gather information using my 5 senses
I can gather information to make a prediction
I can use my information to draw conclusions
I can share my findings using evidence I have gathered

Task: Make a video (no longer than 30 seconds) about on example of   
energy. i.e. States of matter, Potential and Kinetic energy, Newtons Cradle or forms of energy like Radiation, Convection, Conduction.

What makes a good video:
clear voices
different camera angles
- Still camera skills
- mute background noise
- mixture of still and moving images
- background distractions
- music

I think I did well at explaining what potential is because I had a clear voice, next time I think I could improve on putting on different camera angeles.

Feedback/Feed foward: Nice video I think you cloud maybe have a few more different camera angles.

Literacy Sample

WALT:rote learn (learn off by heart)

To show a strategy to help us learn our spelling words, to share during our Student Led Conference. We did it in Week 5 this is for the world. A mnemonic is something that can help you with your spelling.I learned about how to make a mnemonic. I think I did well I struggled a bit but asked some people to help me. Feedback/ feed forward: I think you did a great job because you actually made mnemonic's of your spelling words. I liked the mnemonic that was the one for moldy. Rosalind.

Maths sample

WALT Solve problems by making equal shares.
Success Criteria: We will know we are successful when we can solve the problem by first predicting that 12÷ 2 = 6. I made this poster on pic collage I hope that you learnt your divided bys. 



Purpose: we did this to show a strategy to help us learn our divided bys to share during our Student Led Conference.

 Process: All of Nic's maths workshop 7 and 8 got together and Nic taught us the strategy.

 Learning: I Learnd how to figure out divided by questions. 

Evaluation: I think that I could have put in more detail.
